Don’t Make These Enterprise SEO Mistakes
The SEO process looks the same, for the most part, for any website owner. Small businesses and large businesses have the same goal–to improve their search engine presence in order to generate more visitors to the site. The process begins with industry and keyword research, then on site optimization, and then ongoing link building. Because enterprise organizations have more resources than smaller companies, it would seem as if an enterprise SEO campaign would be more successful. This isn’t always the case, especially since enterprise organizations often make mistakes that smaller companies do not. Here are 3 common mistakes that large corporations make during an SEO campaign.

Incorporate Long Tail Keywords into the Mix for SEO Success
One of the first steps of an SEO campaign is keyword research. The keywords lay the groundwork for the campaign and influence every decision that is made thereafter. Two of the most important things to pay attention to when conducting keyword research are the relevancy of the keyword and its search volume. That was until I read the second edition of Vanessa Fox’s Marketing in the Age of Google. Ms. Fox, who ran Google Webmaster Central before becoming an independent author and speaker, emphasizes using keyword data in every phase of the marketing, advertising, and communications lifecycle. Select the Right Keywords for SEO Success
An entire SEO campaign is based on the keywords that are chosen since they should be incorporated into every piece of content that is published as part of an online marketing campaign. Incorporating keywords naturally into the actual website content in order to improve rankings is really only one small part of the overall strategy. These selected keywords are also used within blog posts, articles, press releases, blog comments, online profiles, and social media posts which are created to build relevant inbound links and generate traffic to the site. Keywords are the foundation of an SEO and online marketing campaign and they need to be relevant and attainable. If the selected keywords aren’t completely relevant or are too broad and very competitive, it will be difficult to generate traffic from target audience members that are the most likely to convert.
