What if my competitor is cheating at SEO?

Does that question keep you up at night? I mean, you are following the rules. You are doing everything ethically and humanly possible to drive searchers to your Web site, but what if your competitors are not so scrupulous? You know that the search engines do their best to ferret out spammers, but you also know that lots of clever folks get away with it every day. What if one of those back-hat SEO experts is advising your top competitor? These are scary questions that up until now did not have very good answers. But an announcement of a new SEO tool last month has the possibility of at least a partial answer to this question.     There isn’t really much to do if you confirm that your competitor is cheating at SEO. You can always report them and send evidence, but this can be dismissed by some as sour-graping.

    Whatever we do..the cheaters will fool the search engines. Most of the competitors will know that some of them will go under black hat. As Nick mentioned on the other site, even google algorithm is not perfect. There are ways to cheat the search engines.

    There’s always someone who will take advantage of the system, no matter what that system is. What if we all stood up for what was right? We could all be paying it forward.
