Lots of companies are listening to what’s being said in social media, and taking action to engage with their supporters and critics. But I mostly see larger companies taking this plunge, while most of the smaller companies I run into tell me why they don’t do it. Yeah, maybe the dog picture wasn’t my most cleverly conceived. :-)
I was trying to come up with an image for social media listening by small business, and the Search Engine Guide blog uses a dog for the blog, and I thought of the old RCA picture of the dog listening to the phonograph, and, uh…

I think that the signa to noise ratio is so high in social media it is very difficult to filter through the nose to find the substance.
